Discoverable
secure service publishing and discovery
Description
Volt4AI supports distributed, secure service publishing and discovery. Capabilities can be found through a Discovery API or via declared, signed data published on Synapse, and the Volt Registry makes services — including redundant gateways — deployable and discoverable. The system is fully documented and open, with many existing deployments.
Importance
Services are only useful if they can be found and trusted; signed discovery removes bespoke wiring and lets new services appear safely. Volt exposes a discovery interface (Volt: Discovery API).
Benefit
- Developers can find and consume services without bespoke point-to-point wiring.
- Discovery data is signed, so what is advertised is verifiable.
Defence Relevance
Addresses the DTW requirement for loosely coupled services that avoid the n² problem of point-to-point integration. Maps to DTW Cycle 0 criterion 9 (ease of use for digital service developers, including API discoverability) and supports the Exploitable-by-Design discovery principle (58). Discovery via signed declared data also reinforces trusted, NATO-compliant interoperability.
Civilian & Enterprise Relevance
Internal developer platforms and partner ecosystems get a self-service catalogue of trustworthy data and services — accelerating integration across large enterprises and data marketplaces.
