Dynamic
configurable and dynamic policy
Description
Volt4AI supports configurable and dynamic policy — access and behaviour are governed by policy that can be configured and changed at runtime, rather than being hard-coded. This is the dynamism dimension of policy; the distributed, signed, verifiable enforcement model it runs on is covered by Distributed policy.
Importance
Access needs change with context; runtime-configurable policy lets control adapt without redeploying code. Volt’s policy is declarative and verifiable (Volt: Policy, Policy definition).
Benefit
- Adapts trust and access rules to changing context without redeployment.
- Lets operators tune policy to their environment and risk posture.
Defence Relevance
Mission and threat context change constantly; being able to reconfigure signed policy at runtime — without redeploying code — is what keeps DTW access control current. The dynamism runs on Volt’s Distributed policy enforcement model, and together they support DTW Cycle 0 criterion 3 (security of the API layer) and the Exploitable-by-Design governance principle (60).
Civilian & Enterprise Relevance
Enterprises change fine-grained, auditable data-sharing rules per customer, contract or jurisdiction on the fly — without redeployment — supporting consent management and fast response to regulatory change.
