Integrable
wrap third-party / legacy systems that lack a mature API
Description
Volt4AI can bring systems that have no mature API of their own into the fabric. Creating a Cortex Agent lets arbitrary data or local system calls be surfaced as APIs within Volt, so legacy or third-party software becomes a first-class, securely mediated participant.
Importance
Most value is locked in systems with no modern API; wrapping them brings them into the fabric securely rather than waiting for replacement. Volt agents can surface remote commands and terminals (Volt: Execute remote command, Terminal API).
Benefit
- Onboards systems that can’t be modified or that expose only files, sockets or local calls.
- The wrapped interface inherits Volt’s signing, identity and policy controls.
Defence Relevance
Much defence software predates modern API practice or cannot be changed. Maps to DTW Cycle 0 criterion 7 (securely integrate with third-party digital services/software that don’t offer a mature API interface of their own) and supports connecting the Sensor-Decider-Effector kill chain across existing systems (Challenge 1).
Civilian & Enterprise Relevance
Modernise legacy ERP, SCADA and line-of-business systems without replacing them — a low-risk path to integration and automation in manufacturing, utilities and the public sector.
