secure monitoring and telemetry
Description
Volt4AI provides multi-dimensional telemetry through the Synapse layer, with integrity and provenance built into the data-centric-security model so monitoring data is itself trustworthy. Because telemetry rides the synchronisation model, it can travel over many physical transports — including air-gapped methods — and access is mediated by the policy layer and, optionally, attribute-based encryption.
Importance
Trustworthy operations need tamper-evident telemetry, not spoofable logs you have to take on faith. Volt’s logging and signed data make the monitoring stream itself verifiable (Volt: Logging).
Benefit
- Operators get verifiable, provenance-bearing telemetry rather than spoofable logs.
- Monitoring works even across air-gapped or intermittently connected segments.
Defence Relevance
Contested environments need monitoring that is secure and tamper-evident, not just present. Maps to DTW Cycle 0 criterion 4 (secure monitoring and telemetry) and supports the Exploitable-by-Design monitoring/logging principle (63). Policy-mediated, optionally encrypted access keeps telemetry usable across security boundaries.
Civilian & Enterprise Relevance
SRE/observability, compliance audit trails and SLA monitoring gain provenance guarantees — valuable wherever logs are themselves evidence (finance, healthcare and other regulated industries).
