Synchronized
resilient offline
Description
Volt4AI keeps nodes synchronized while remaining resilient offline — components can operate disconnected and reconcile their state once connectivity returns, rather than depending on a constant connection.
Importance
Real systems lose connectivity; sync-based resilience means work continues and reconciles safely rather than failing. Volt builds this on CRDT sync (Volt: Sync database, Synapse).
Benefit
- Continues working in intermittent or disconnected environments (edge, field, embedded).
- No data loss or stalled operation during network outages.
Defence Relevance
Targeting must work to the edge and through contested, degraded comms. Volt’s Synapse synchronisation supports multiple synchronised documents optimised for different bandwidths and is resilient when disconnected with no loss of security — demonstrated under the DSTL OFEME programme and being deployed for NATO IC Cyber Resilience by Design. Maps to DTW Cycle 0 criterion 2 (resilient API integration in low bandwidth/intermittent network environments) and Challenge 4 (providing the DTW out to the Edge).
Civilian & Enterprise Relevance
Field service, retail, logistics, maritime and remote-site operations keep working offline and reconcile cleanly when reconnected — no dependency on continuous central uptime.
